Pune: Pimpri Resident Lost Rs 7.5 Lakhs In Bank KYC Verification Fraud

Pimpri, 29th October 2023: A young man fell victim to a deceptive KYC verification scam, resulting in the loss of seven lakh forty-eight thousand rupees. The incident took place on October 4 at Star Engineering Company in Talawade.

 

Neeraj Narendra Joglekar, a 26-year-old resident of Pimpri, reported the scam to the Pimpri Police Station on October 28. Subsequently, a case has been registered against the individual holding mobile number 916290458227.

 

The fraudster initiated contact by sending a message to the plaintiff via Twitter, claiming the need for Axis Bank KYC verification. To accomplish this, the accused instructed the victim to download an app named “Any Desk” on his mobile phone. Following the instructions, Neeraj downloaded the app, and while providing his PAN card details, he fell victim to the scam as the fraudster illicitly transferred Rs 7,48,333 from his bank account.

 

The Pimpri police have launched an investigation into this fraudulent case to uncover the full extent of the deception.
