Pune: PMC Commissioner Clarifies On Wedding Ceremony Conditions, Sharing Guest List Etc

Pune, September 20, 2020: Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar has clarified that the conditions issued by the state government for wedding ceremonies do not apply to the city of Pune. He also clarified that no government body would come to inspect the wedding ceremony.

Officials of Maharashtra Catering Association and Catering Association Pune submitted a letter to the Municipal Commissioner objecting to the conditions which were to be followed by caterers, wedding hall and lawns operators for the wedding ceremony. The municipal commissioner clarified that the conditions issued for the wedding ceremony did not apply to the city of Pune. Kishor Sarpotdar, Sanjeev Welankar, Prakash Dingankar and Vinay Tatke of the association were present at the meeting.

According to PMC Commissioner, there is a limit of 50 people for a wedding ceremony. But, it will only include the guests from the bride and groom and it does not include the Bhatji (priest) and caterers. Also, police permission, submitting the wedding CD, submitting the list of guests attending the wedding is not required for Pune city, Sarpotdar said.

He added, “Officials of the catering association have been instructed to follow all the health-related guidelines issued by the government. The Maharashtra Catering Association and Catering Association Pune have more than 250 members.”

The association have demanded that the state government should increase the number of guests to 200 in marriage ceremonies.
