Kondhwa Budruk, 1st November 2025: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram on Friday inspected the ongoing road construction work near Shatrunjay Mandir, which is being developed as an alternative route to ease traffic congestion during the redevelopment of the old Katraj-Kondhwa road.

During the visit, he reviewed the progress of the project and directed the engineers and consultants from the Road Department to ensure timely completion with high-quality standards.

The Commissioner informed that once the alternative road is completed, the PMC will begin redevelopment of the existing Katraj-Kondhwa road. To ensure smooth traffic flow and eliminate bottlenecks, the civic body is developing a 50-meter-wide road along the entire stretch.

Ram said that PMC has already arranged full funding for land acquisition and ₹500 crore has been reserved for this purpose. He appealed to landowners along the proposed 50-meter strip to hand over possession of their land at the earliest, assuring that compensation will be provided promptly. This, he said, will allow road construction to begin immediately and be completed by June 2026.

“In addition to the 50-meter stretch, the process of acquiring land for the remaining 34-meter-wide section will also begin soon. Our aim is to make this corridor completely free of traffic bottlenecks before the coming monsoon,” the Commissioner added.
