Manjari, 18th October 2025: Garbage accumulation, drainage problems, narrow roads, potholes, and irregular water supply — several civic issues in the newly merged villages under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have reached a critical point.

PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram visited the Shewalewadi and Manjari areas to inspect these problems firsthand. Despite the corporation collecting crores in taxes, officials have reportedly been negligent in addressing citizens’ concerns. The Commissioner issued a stern warning: “If the problems in the newly merged villages are not resolved soon, irresponsible officials will be sent home.”

The inspection was prompted by BJP District Vice President Rahul Shewale, who raised multiple civic issues before the Commissioner. Expressing concern over the poor state of facilities, Shewale said:
“We pay taxes regularly, yet we are the ones suffering. Why is this injustice happening only to us? The residents of newly merged villages deserve the same facilities as the rest of Pune city.”

Commissioner Ram was accompanied by Deputy Commissioners Arvind Mali, Prasad Katkar, Sandeep Kadam, Chief Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar, and other senior officials, including Jagdish Khanore, Nandkumar Jagatap, Ashish Jadhav, Balasaheb Dhawale-Patil, Virendra Kelkar, Rajesh Shinde, Ganesh Puram, Rakesh Shinde, Sunil Patil, Pravin Yele, and several encroachment inspectors.

During the visit, Shewale highlighted that local builders had illegally diverted drainage into a stream in Shewalewadi, posing a serious health hazard to residents. He also pointed out that the rainwater drainage system at Shewalewadi Chowk was being misused for sewage disposal, exacerbating the problem.

In Manjari, pothole-ridden roads and the narrow approach to the railway flyover have caused frequent accidents. Shewale urged the PMC to take urgent steps to repair and widen the roads.

Commissioner Ram and his team were felicitated by Rahul Shewale and former Sarpanch Pratima Shewale during the visit. The event was also attended by Sunil Shewale, Vijay Kodre, Sanjay Kodre, Mangesh Shewale, Balkrishna Shewale, Akshay Shewale, Chandrakant Shewale, Siddharth Shewale, and Suresh Shewale.

Later, the Commissioner visited the Manjari Gram Panchayat office, inspected the water supply system, and issued directions to officials. Rahul Shewale stated that the Commissioner has assured immediate allocation of funds to resolve major issues affecting both Shewalewadi and Manjari in the coming days.
