Pune: PMC Cuts Down 10 Trees Obstructing Traffic Movement On Ahmednagar Road
Pune 24th August 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has cut down 10 mature trees on the Ahmednagar road that according to officials were obstructing traffic movement on the road. The trees were cut on Tuesday night near Matruchhaya Society.
However, the locals claimed that they were unaware of the move and were shocked to see the chopped trees on Wednesday morning. The locals claimed that the civic body should have first dismantled the BRT lane which according to them is creating a major obstruction for the traffic movement than trees. The civic officials have said that the trees that were cut were close to signal.
It may be noted that Pune-Ahmednagar road, the main highway, faces heavy traffic jams during the peak hours and the demand to dismantle the BRT lane on this route has been pending for a long time. Earlier the civic body had also decided to remove the BRT infrastructure and the work was also started for the same but it is yet to complete the task.
