Pune: PMC Deputy Engineer Caught Taking Bribe By ACB

Pune, 23 August 2021: A Deputy Engineer of the Pune Municipal Corporation’s road department was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a contractor.

 

After getting the complaint, the sleuths from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) laid a trap and nabbed the engineer identified as Sudheer Sonawane.

 

According to ACB, the contractor has done repair work of PMC schools in 2018-19 and had applied for the payment of the bill for his work. The accused engineer allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 bribe.
The builder lodged a complaint with the ACB.

 

Today, the engineer was caught accepting Rs 40,000 bribe money. An FIR has been registered against the accused with Shivajinagar police station. He has been charged for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Rajesh Bansode, Additional SPs Suraj Gurav and Suhas Nadgouda. Police Inspector Bharat Salunkhe is further investigating the case.
