Pune, 18th December 2022: 130 private hospitals are currently operating in Pune city without the necessary safety certification from the fire department, according to a survey undertaken by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). According to standards established by the state pollution control board, it was discovered that eight additional hospitals did not separate their biomedical waste.

The assessment was carried out following state regulations that direct civic organisations to examine private hospitals for crucial conditions before renewing licences. Hospitals that violate standards will receive notices, according to health department representatives.

The PMC examined hospitals’ registration certificates, notices cautioning against sex determination techniques, and tariffs in addition to fire safety and waste disposal. 540 private hospitals from 15 wards were surveyed.

Hospitals were warned of actions and asked to complete and set up necessary procedures and structures.
