Pune, 9th December 2022: If citizens do not pay taxes, action is taken against them by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). If the validity of a company’s SIM installed in one’s mobile phone expires, then that SIM is immediately deactivated, but about 2,900 mobile towers are installed in the city. The tax arrears figure for this year is Rs 18 crores and the question is when will the municipal corporation recover the arrears or will they give shelter to these mobile companies.

More than 2,900 mobile towers of various companies have been installed in the city of Pune. RTI activist Tanaji Gholap has revealed the fact that the property tax for the year 2021-22 has been paid from this mobile tower to the amount of Rs 91 crores, while the property tax of about Rs 1,800 crores has not yet been paid by these companies.

If citizens do not pay property taxes, action is taken against them by the PMC. Gholap demanded that Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar should collect the tax from these mobile companies as soon as possible and use it for the development works of the city.
