Pune, 1st June 2021: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has planned to give a second dose of Covaxin at 15 places on Wednesday, June 2. Everyone above the age of 18 will be able to take the second dose after the required gap, informed Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal.

All the vaccination centres will be closed on Wednesday as the corporation did not receive the Covishield vaccine from the government even on Tuesday. A second dose of Covaxin will be given in only 15 places. 100 doses each are available at these places.

The first dose of Covaxin was given to people between the ages of 18 and 44 on May 5 in the city. Therefore, after completing 28 days, they will now be vaccinated along with the age 45 plus citizens.

It must be noted that 60% of vaccines are reserved for those who book online and 40% of the vaccine will be available for those coming directly to the centres. The online booking will start at 8 am on Wednesday.

Although vaccination at municipal centres has slowed down, vaccination at private centres is in full swing, especially in the age group of 18-44 years. On Tuesday, 16,380 people were vaccinated at municipal and private vaccination centres. Of these, 14,875 in the age group of 18 to 44 have taken the first dose and 29 have taken the second dose. Although the municipal corporation has provided 1500 doses of Covaxin at 15 centres, it has come to light that about 50 per cent of the doses remain unused.
