Pune, 11th January 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is on the brink of concluding its comprehensive study aimed at enhancing water availability in Ambegaon, Dhayari, Jambhulwadi, and Narhe areas, with the detailed project report (DPR) anticipated to be ready next month.

These areas were gradually integrated into the PMC limits over the past six years, but residents expressed dissatisfaction with the water supply, citing minimal improvement. In response, the civic administration initiated studies for all 23 merged areas within the PMC jurisdiction, with DPRs being systematically prepared. Notably, pipeline installations were already underway in Bavdhan.

Officials from the PMC’s water supply department revealed, “The DPR for Wagholi and Lohegaon was recently finalized. Currently, a similar DPR is under preparation for Ambegaon and its neighboring areas. The study concentrates on developing a detailed plan for new water distribution pipelines, installation of overhead tanks, and the establishment of an efficient distribution network. Upon completion, the DPRs will undergo further approvals.”

Over the past decade, Ambegaon, Narhe, Dhayari, and Jambhulwadi have witnessed a significant population surge.

As the PMC gears up to present the finalized DPRs, residents are hopeful that these measures will address the persistent water supply challenges and provide a tangible solution to their concerns.
