Pune: PMC, PCMC And 24 Villages To Be Developed Based On Panchatatva

Pune, November 4, 2020: To keep the ecological balance, as many as 24 villages of Pune district will be developed based on the ‘Panchatatva’ (five basic elements of Nature i.e earth, wind, water, fire and sky) under the ‘Vasundhara’, campaign.

The campaign was kick-started on October 2 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The villages that have a population of 10,000 and above will be included in the campaign. These directives have been given to Zilla Parishad.

Development according to ‘Panchatatva’

Considering the first element, earth – garbage management, forestation, wastewater management, protecting land from erosion among others. In the second element, which is the wind, improving the air quality would be the main work that will be undertaken.

For water, river cleaning, water conservation, saving the biodiversity will be done, under fire element saving of the natural energy, paving way for non-conventional energy development while under sky element work on human nature will be carried out.

Under the Vasundhara campaign, municipal corporations in the state have been selected besides municipal councils and gram panchayats. The cities got selected under this campaign will be named as ‘Amrut cities’. The best corporation will be selected and given an award.

Apart from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), the villages in Pune district under the project include Urulikanchan, Loni Kalbhor, Nimgaon Ketki, Warwand, Ale, Boripardhi, Ranjangaon Ganpati, Yavat, Talegaon Dhamdher, Kalamb, Patas, Malegaon Budruk, Kadamwakvasti, Shikrapur, Baramati gramin, Otur, Narayangaon, Rahu, Induri, Bawda, Ambegaon Khurd and Kadus.
