Pune: PMC Presents Rs 12,618 Crore Budget for 2025-26

Pune, 4th March 2025: Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale presented a Rs 12,618.09 crore budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 to the Standing Committee today. The budget, which represents a significant increase from the previous year’s Rs 11,601 crore, focuses on essential services and infrastructure development without imposing any new taxes.
Key highlights of the budget include:
1. Allocation of Rs 7,093 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs 5,524 crore for capital works.
2. Emphasis on cleanliness, health, and infrastructure development.
3. Establishment of a complaint redressal committee at the ward deputy commissioner level.
4. Creation of a Metropolitan Surveillance Unit to prevent epidemics.
5. Rs 623 crore kept for newly incorporated villages.
6. Over Rs 200 crore allocated for land acquisition projects.
Dr. Bhosale stated that the budget aims to be citizen-centric, addressing key issues such as traffic congestion, affordable housing, and modernization of crematoriums. The commissioner also announced plans to increase revenue through efficient use of municipal properties.
This marks the third consecutive budget presented under administrative rule since the implementation of administrator governance in PMC. Dr. Bhosale claimed that 55% of the previous year’s budget has been collected so far, with expectations to reach 70% utilization by the end of March.
The budget presentation was attended by key municipal officials, including Additional Commissioners Prithviraj BP and Mahesh Patil, as well as heads of various departments.
