Pune, 2nd March 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to create 549 new posts in accordance with the service entry rules and regulations, following the inclusion of 23 villages within its jurisdiction. The proposal has been presented to the Standing Committee for approval and will then be sent to the state government for final authorization.

To determine the manpower required for all the departments, the servile class departments were consulted after the villages were included. The total number of posts demanded by all departments was 1,492. However, due to the urgent need for employees and the financial pressure on the administration, the commissioner has appointed an additional commissioner and a committee of accountants to create these posts. A report will be provided on the number of posts that should be filled.

Before the inclusion of these villages, the PMC had already hired 454 Gram Panchayat employees. However, these employees have yet to receive their salaries and other benefits in accordance with the service entry rules of the PMC and the municipality scheme. Consequently, these employees have been assigned to work in other departments instead of being assigned to work in the villages. The maximum number of posts will be allocated to the architectural (civil) cadre.
