Pune, 18th March 2023: From 1st March to 15th March, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) received 594 complaints on the helpline set up for citizens to report water issues 24 hours a day.

Most of the complaints received by the administration were about low-pressure water supply and a lack of water supply for two days. Of these complaints, 325 have been resolved, and the rest have been forwarded to the relevant department authorities for action. The helpline number for complaints is 020-25501383.

The PMC has launched the ‘PMC Care Helpline’ for all types of complaints in the city. However, the helpline is often closed, and water-related complaints are not taken seriously despite being an everyday issue.

As part of the Equal Water Supply Scheme, the Municipal Corporation is obligated to provide a 24-hour water helpline, and the service has been made available to citizens accordingly.

Most of the complaints have been received from newly included villages, suburbs, Mhalunge, Mundhwa, and Keshavnagar areas, along with villages in the Katraj area. Complaints mainly include disruptions in water supply, lack of water supply for days, and delayed water arrival.

Around 25 to 30 residents of a society in Mhalunge have filed separate complaints about a lack of water supply in their area. Some of the complaints relate to delayed water supply, while others involve motor installation issues and unauthorized water supply complaints.
