Pune: PMC Releases Ambulance Helpline Numbers For COVID Patients; 78 Ambulances Operational At Present

Pune, 29 March 2021: After receiving repetitive complaints from relatives of Coronavirus (COVID19) positive patients, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has released helpline numbers for ambulances. These ambulances can be availed for shifting patients to hospitals as well as taking deceased patients for the funeral.

On the orders of PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar and Additional Commissioner Kunal Khemnar, a total of 45 ambulances of the Corporation were operating in the city with an oxygen facility. Now 32 private ambulances have been acquired. Therefore, a total of 78 ambulances are functional now. Out of these 16 vehicles are hearse vehicles and 62 vehicles are operating as ambulances.

PMC Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal said that people don’t have to pay these ambulances for the services. “The ambulance services are free of cost”, she added.

According to PMC, ambulances are being provided to the patients at Isolation / Covid Centers and various hospitals while mortuaries are being provided for the deceased. Before requesting an ambulance for Covid-19 patients in the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), if there is a need for a bed, they should contact the Bed Management Control Room No. 02025502110 to ensure the availability of beds and take care of registering the ambulance. The helpline number for getting an ambulance is 108 and the PMC COVID control room contact number is 9689939381.
