Pune: PMC To Acquire 80% Beds In Private Hospitals For COVID Patients, Commissioner Issues Order To Allot Beds In Two Days

Pune, 29 March 2021: Against the constant rise of Coronavirus infection (COVID19) cases in the city, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) today issued an order to all private hospitals to hand over 80% of beds for treatment of COVID positive patients.

PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar has ordered the private hospital management to hand over the beds including those in ICU in two days i.e. by March 31, 2021. “The non-COVID patients should be shifted to the remaining 20% beds. Only serious non-COVID patients should be admitted in hospitals”, the order states.

The Municipal Commissioner further stated, “After the lockdown in the city of Pune, the number of Covid-19 patients is once again in full swing. The number of COVID-positive patients will increase exponentially. This is evident from the analysis reports of the government and other institutions. Therefore, considering the experience of the previous year, it has become necessary to be fully prepared for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in Pune.”

Today, a total of 2,547 new Covid-19 positive patients were reported in the PMC area while 32 patients died. A total of 32,875 active patients are undergoing treatment including 674 critical patients. Swab samples of 15,153 persons were collected today for the Covid-19 test.
