Pune, 31 March 2021: As the COVID situation in Pune worsens, many are facing difficulties in getting the information related to the availability of beds or other medical treatment from the municipal helpline number. Due to this, the number of complaints to the municipal health department has also increased. To prevent any inconvenience to people, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started a 24-hour helpline service in the city to provide information related to COVID-19, said Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mahol.

Mohol took the review of the Corona Call Centre in Pune city. Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Additional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, Corporator Srinath Bhimale, Praveen Chorbele, Health Chief Dr Ashish Bharti including concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

Mohol said that the hours of the call centre service have been expanded to provide information on the availability of beds for COVID-19 treatment. With the decision to make this call centre available 24 hours, helpline numbers have also been doubled. Earlier there were five helpline numbers and now 10 helpline numbers will be available. So citizens won’t face any problem with getting connected.

PMC to make more beds available

After acquiring 80 percent of the beds at the private hospitals, about 7,000 beds will be available for COVID-19 patients. Besides, PMC has planned to make 5,000 beds for Covid Care Centre (CCC) available, out of which 1,250 beds have been made available. Besides, 1,450 beds are being prepared, said Mohol.

Mohol instructed the administration to keep the dashboard up to date and provide beds to the needy in the shortest possible time. The mayor also said that efforts would be made to increase the number of vaccination centres.
