Pune, 6th April 2021: The Pune Municipal corporation (PMC) officials have raised concern over the management of beds as they are not getting proper information from private hospitals.

The officials said, “We are not aware of exactly how many beds in the private hospital have been taken over by the corporation. We are not allowed to enter the ICU section or Covid -19 ward. We are also not allowed to see what information is being uploaded to the dashboard. So how do we manage the beds?”

As the number of positive cases are increasing in the city, the PMC has started taking over 80% beds of private hospitals. The municipality has appointed officers for various hospitals for the management of beds. However, these officers are not being informed about the beds reserved for the COVID patients by the private hospitals. Despite informing senior authorities of the hospital about this, officials said that they were not getting a positive response from them.

Another officer added, “The relatives of positive patients are struggling to get a bed at the hospitals, but there is no bed available at municipal centres. The private hospitals are not cooperating with the PMC officials. They are admitting patients according to their own will, therefore it is difficult for us to provide beds to needy people.”
