Lohegaon, 27th February 2023: The Health Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took action against a doctor in Lohegaon who was practising homeopathy medicine without registering with the Maharashtra Medical Council. The doctor’s actions were discovered through the Municipal Corporation’s bogus medical professional search campaign.

According to regulations, any doctor who has graduated from a recognized university must register with the Maharashtra Medical Council; failure to do so results in legal consequences.

In this case, the regional medical officers filed a complaint at the Vimantal police station. After verifying the complaint, the head of the health department, Dr. Ashish Bharti, and Assistant Health Officer Dr. Kalpana Baliwant, took action against the doctor with the help of local police. The Municipal Corporation encourages citizens and organizations to report any bogus doctors who engage in illegal medical practices or provide treatment without official registration.
