Pune, 24th December 2022: Government offices that have not paid their water taxes will have their water connections cut off by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The offices owe over Rs 60 crore in taxes, including those of the state and central governments. The head of the PMC’s water supply department, Aniruddha Pawaskar, claimed that the city administration had encouraged the relevant parties to pay their debts. Such appeals have previously been made by the PMC. However, numerous authorities have disregarded the PMC’s demands. Therefore, measures like cutting off water connections will be done.

The government offices have been given a 15-day deadline by the civic administration. They will have to pay the debt in the allotted period. Defence establishments, telecom firms, cantonments, and educational institutions are among the defaulters.
