Pune, 12th July 2021: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to prepare development plans (DP) of 23 newly included villages within the limits of PMC. A special general meeting will be held for this on Thursday 15th July, informed Ganesh Bidkar, Leader of the House.

The Maharashtra state government issued a notification recently for the inclusion of 23 villages in the municipal limits. Now Pune has become the largest city in Maharashtra.

As per Section 21 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966, the PMC must prepare a draft development plan for these 23 newly included villages as a planning authority.

A resolution was also tabled at a meeting of the City Improvement Committee last week that the municipality should prepare a development plan for the newly included villages within its boundaries.

The approval of the main meeting of the municipality is required to approve the development plan of these villages. Therefore, eight members of the Standing Committee had made a written request to Mayor Murlidhar Mohol to convene a special meeting on this issue. Accordingly, a special meeting has been organized for 15th July at 11.30 am. The meeting will be held online.

“All these 23 new villages within the limits of the corporation need to be developed in all respects. For this, it is important to prepare a development plan for these villages. Therefore, this special general meeting has been called”, said Mohol.

Bidkar said, “All members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been asked to attend the special meeting to prepare a development plan for the villages. Strict action will be taken against the members who ignore the whip and vote against the party’s order.”
