Pune, 30th June 2022: Due to shortage of water in the dam, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has finally decided to reduce the water supply. Now water will be supplied to the city on alternate days from Monday (July 4) and a water supply schedule will be announced by the administration.

The Water Resources Department had sent a letter to the Municipal Corporation asking it to use water judiciously due to shortage of water in Khadakwasla Dam project.

Pune is already experiencing uneven water supply. Currently, some areas have water all day long, while most areas get water only once a day.

The decision on water supply cuts was taken after a review meeting today by municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar.

All the four dams have only 2.5 TMC of water left. Therefore, if the rains are delayed, the situation is likely to worsen. In this context, a meeting on water supply was scheduled to be held three days ago, but the meeting was canceled and the decision was postponed.
