Pune, 6th April 2022: After the recent assault on its employees during anti-encroachment drives, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will now take security from the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF). Around 100 SRPF Jawans will be deployed for the purpose.
After the term of the elected people’s representatives (corporators) ended, Pune municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar was appointed as the administrator. And he has launched the drive to clear encroachments all over Pune city. Till now about 1.5 lakh square feet of encroachments have been demolished.
Three departments of PMC along with 15 ward offices are taking action twice a week. However, due to opposition to the action, the drive gets stopped for hours. Also, due to VIP visits, Pune city police are not able to provide security on time. Therefore, PMC is approaching SRPF for the security during the anti-encroachment drives.
