Pune, 29th April 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Taxation and Tax Collection Department have decided to cancel the 40 per cent exemption for house owners in property tax and remit the amount in four stages from the property holders who have recovered three years’ arrears and the new residential property has been levied at 100 per cent tax.

A 40 per cent concession in property tax was given to properties of self-occupied households. But since this concession was canceled, the Municipal Corporation sent the outstanding amount of payments to about one lakh property holders in the city in 2019.

As the amount was at least more than 35,000, the property holders expressed displeasure about it. After that, the decision was taken by the state cabinet to restore the concession. An ordinance in this regard has also been issued.
