Pune: PMC’s Chief Legal Officer Caught Taking Rs 50,000 Bribe

Pune, 14th June 2021: In a major catch, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune unit, today arrested the chief legal officer of Pune municipal corporation (PMC) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

An FIR has been registered against officer Majusha Idhate at Shivajinagar police station. She has been charged for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to ACB, the complainant’s Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) file has been pending with Idhate for her opinion. She demanded a bribe to give a favourable opinion. The complaint approached the ACB which laid a trap and caught her accepting Rs 50,000. Police Inspector Jyoti Patil is further investigating the case.

The actions were taken under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police (ACB-Pune range) Rajesh Bansode, Additional SP Suraj Gurav and Suhas Nadgouda and DySP Seema Mehandale.

“People can approach the ACB if any government staff demands a bribe”, Bansode appealed.
