Pune: PMPML Announces Major Bus Route Diversions for Shiv Jayanti Celebrations on February 19

Pune, 17th February 2026: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has announced significant temporary changes to bus routes in the central city area for Thursday, February 19, 2026, to accommodate the processions marking Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

According to the press note issued on Tuesday, the traditional Shiv Jayanti procession is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM from the Bhavani Mata Mandir in Bhavani Peth and will conclude at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue near the Civil Court.

As the procession passes through key arterials, specifically Laxmi Road and Shivaji Road, the Traffic Police will close these roads to vehicular movement starting around 4:00 PM. To prevent congestion and inconvenience to commuters, the PMPML administration has released a diversion plan.

Key Route Changes (Effective from 4:00 PM):

Swargate Bound Buses (via Shivaji Road): Buses on routes 2, 10, 11, 21, 37, 298, etc., will be diverted via Jangli Maharaj (JM) Road. They will proceed through Balgandharva, Deccan Gymkhana, and Alka Talkies, then take Kumthekar Road and pass via Vishrambag Wada and Mandai to reach Swargate.

PMC Bhavan Routes: Buses departing from PMC Bhavan (Routes 35, 36, 82, 99, 142, etc.) will operate via Dhole Patil Road and Fergusson Road. The return journey will be routed via JM Road.

Laxmi Road Routes: Buses usually plying on Laxmi Road (Routes 5, 6, 24, 39, etc.) will be diverted once the road closes. These buses will travel via Pune Station, Police Commissioner’s Office, West End Talkies, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stand, and Golibar Maidan to reach Swargate.

Kumbharwada/Station Routes: Buses on routes 3, 9, 57, 144, etc., affected by the closure of Phadke Haud and Daruwala Bridge, will travel via Kumbharwada, Juna Bazar, and Mangalwar Peth toward Pune Station.

Special Note for Route 113: Buses on this route will operate from the PMC Riverbed bus stand after 3:00 PM.

Official Appeal

The Chief Transport Manager (Operations) stated that these changes will remain in effect from 4:00 PM until the roads reopen. However, further route adjustments may be made in real-time based on instructions from the Traffic Police. Commuters have been requested to take note of these changes and cooperate with the transport administration.
