Shaniwar Peth, 22nd April 2026: A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus rammed into a shop at Appa Balwant Chowk on Tuesday evening after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. No serious injuries were reported in the incident, though property damage was significant.

According to officials, the bus, operating on the Vadgaon Budruk–Pune Station route, was passing through the busy Appa Balwant Chowk area around 4:30 pm when the driver suddenly lost control. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a wedding card shop.

At the time of the accident, no customers were present inside or around the shop, preventing a potentially major tragedy. However, the bus hit two parked two-wheelers outside the shop before smashing into the front portion of the establishment, causing damage to its facade, furniture, and materials.

Four two-wheelers were damaged in the incident, along with goods inside the shop.

Upon receiving information, personnel from the Vishrambaug Police Station rushed to the spot and initiated preliminary inquiry. PMPML officials also visited the site.

Authorities said an investigation will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, including whether the driver lost control due to human error or if there was any technical fault in the bus.

Police confirmed that the absence of customers at the shop helped avert a serious mishap.
