Pune, 16th June 2023: A PMPML bus was stolen from the Sarasbaug area due to the unavailability of parking space during the Palkhi ceremony. The theft came to light when it was discovered that a battery worth Rs 5000 had been stolen from the bus. A case has been registered against the thief at Swargate police station.

The security officer of the Swargate depot for PMPML, Suresh Sonawane, lodged a complaint at the Swargate Police Station regarding the incident. PMPML buses usually operate from Swargate Agar to Poolgate station in the Lashkar area, but on this particular occasion, due to the Palkhi ceremony, there was no space available to park the bus at Poolgate station. As a result, the bus driver parked the bus at the Sanas Maidan area near Sarasbaug at night, inadvertently leaving the key inside. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the thief stole the bus during the night.

The bus was initially parked in the Market Yard depot area for PMPML buses. The thief also stole the battery from the bus. On Wednesday (June 14), it was noticed that the bus had gone missing, prompting a search operation. Eventually, the bus was located near the Market Yard depot area. It was also discovered that the thieves had broken the windows of two other buses in the vicinity. The security officers of PMPML filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
