The incident took place at around 12.30 pm today when a bus was coming down from Sinhagad fort. About 40 passengers were traveling in the bus.

Adjacent to the wall where the bus hit is a deep valley. The first turn to descend from the fort is a steep descent.

In order to reduce traffic congestion and pollution at in the fort area, the Forest Department and PMPML started bus service from base to the top of Sinhagad fort from May 1 under the campaign ‘My Sinhagad, My Pride’.

This service is getting good response from the citizens. However, due to the less number of buses compared to the number of tourists, the number of passengers in the bus is more than the capacity.

The bus fare is Rs 100 for a round trip per person. The parking cost has been fixed at Rs 10 for two wheelers and Rs 20 for four wheelers.
