Pune: PMPML Revises Bus Fares On 28 Routes Due To Losses

Pune, 21 February 2023: Effective from February 19, the ticket charges for 51 schedules on 28 routes of Depot Core City have been revised in order to reduce the financial loss and operating deficit of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), stated a press release from the transport utility.
The bus facility was introduced to passengers through 143 schedules on new 56 routes of Depot Core City charging Rs. 5/- ticket per 5 km distance in 2020. However, due to the lack of response from passengers on some routes, the PMPML had to close some bus routes and currently, 51 schedules are being continued on 28 routes.
“After considering the actual expenditure and income for the buses operating on the said routes, it was found that the corporation is suffering financial loss due to the imposition of ticket fare of Rs 5 for a distance of 5 km. Therefore, the ticket charges for 51 schedules on 28 routes will be revised.
It is important to note that the current fares for other general routes will remain the same. The new tariff has been made as per the prevailing rate from 19th February 2023 onwards.
