Shivajinagar, 21 February 2023: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has threatened to agitate if the construction of Dr. Homi Bhabha Hospital in Shivajinagar is not completed soon. The hospital, which is an important place for women to give birth, was demolished in 2018 to build a new one.

However, even after four years, the construction of the new hospital is not yet completed, forcing women to rush for deliveries to other hospitals. The slow pace of the work has caused concerns among local residents of the area, who are demanding the completion of the construction and the provision of services to the citizens.

During a recent meeting with Municipal Superintending Engineer Harshada Shinde, MNS officials, including Vinayak Kotkar, Vishal Pawar, Sunil Loyre, Suraj Kusalkar, Nikhil Dongre, Akash Dongre, Tushar Nalavde, and Milan Borde, requested the immediate completion of the construction. The residents of Gokhalenagar, Janwadi, Vaidyuwadi, Wadarwadi, and Pandavnagar have been affected by the slow pace of the construction, as they heavily rely on the hospital for healthcare services.

MNS Division President Ranjit Shirole has questioned the government’s priorities, citing the availability of funds for activities like the G20 summit but the lack of funds to complete the hospital construction. He has urged the government to complete the construction by taking funds from any scheme and make the hospital available for the services of the citizens. If the construction is not completed soon, MNS has warned of a “Bhikh Mango Andolan” at the door of the municipal corporation.
