Pune: PMPML To Charge E-Bus Batteries On Solar Energy

Pune, September 21, 2020: As the number of e-buses will be added into Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) in recent future, the transport body took a decision to construct a solar project at its bus depots and panels would be installed at the bus stops along the BRTS route in the city for charging the e-bus batteries. Interestingly, by doing this the transport body will be able to save Rs nine crore over its fuel bills. The project is expected to get over in next two-three years, said the chairman and managing director Rajendra Jagtap.

With help from Maharashtra Energy Development Agencies (MEDA), the solar project will be constructed at 13 depots and BRT bus stops. He added that the transport body does not have to invest money and will be able to save Rs nine crores per annum.

The transport which has been suffering the losses due to the pandemic and finding ways for revenue generation like providing services for private companies, transporting the materials etc.
