Pune, 19th April 2023: The number of passengers traveling without tickets on Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) buses is increasing every day. Around 45 to 50 passengers are found without tickets each day, and they are being penalized accordingly.

The PMPML fleet consists of 2,142 buses, out of which 1,650 to 1,700 buses are in operation daily. The PMPML serves more than one million passengers every day from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. However, many passengers exploit the crowded conditions and travel without tickets.

Nevertheless, a team of ticket inspectors appointed by PMPML is catching some of these passengers. The PMPML administration reported that the number of passengers traveling without a ticket is around 45 to 50 per day.

Traveling without a ticket on PMPML will result in a Rs 500 fine. Satish Gavane, Chief Transport Manager of PMPML, said, “To ensure compliance, the administration has appointed 12 teams of inspectors, and passengers are advised to purchase tickets when traveling on PMPML buses. Failure to do so will result in penal action.”
