Pune, 9th June 2026 : In a bid to tackle chronic traffic congestion in and around the Hinjewadi IT Park, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated plans to develop four key link roads connecting Hinjewadi with neighbouring areas such as Maan, Marunji and Wakad.

The proposed road projects are expected to improve connectivity and provide alternative routes for thousands of commuters travelling to the IT hub daily.

PMRDA has submitted land acquisition proposals to the district administration for the projects. Construction work will begin after the acquisition process is completed, PMRDA Chief Engineer Shivprasad Bagdi said.

One of the major projects involves widening and upgrading the Mahalunge–Hinjewadi Phase-I road. The existing 7-metre-wide road will be expanded to 24 metres and developed over a stretch of 2.2 kilometres.

Another proposed link road will connect Surya Hospital, Thakar Vasti and Maan village. The 3.74-km-long road, planned with a width of 24 metres, is expected to serve as an important alternative route between Hinjewadi and nearby residential areas.

A third road connecting Marunji to the Shani Mandir area in Wakad will also be upgraded. The proposed corridor will be 24 metres wide and 3.25 kilometres long.

The fourth project involves the development of a 1.5-km road linking Nande and Maan. This road will be 36 metres wide and is expected to improve connectivity between rapidly growing residential and commercial zones in the area.

Officials said the projects form part of PMRDA’s broader strategy to strengthen the road network around Hinjewadi and reduce pressure on existing arterial routes that frequently witness heavy traffic during peak hours.
