Pune Police Announces Traffic Diversion Plan For Tomorrow’s Shri Shiv Jayanti Procession

Pune, 18th February 2023: To mark the occasion of Shri Shiv Jayanti (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birthday), a procession will be taken out from Laxmi Road and Shivaji Road area in central areas of the city on Sunday morning (February 19). In preparation for the event, the Pune traffic police have announced a change in the traffic route in the central region.

The affected roads include Nehru Road, Laxmi Road, Shivaji Road, and Bajirao Road, which will be diverted until the congestion subsides.

Motorists going towards Swargate on Shivaji Road are advised to proceed to their desired destination via Barve Chowk (Modern Cafe), Jungli Maharaj Road, Khandoji Baba Chowk, and Tilak Road. Meanwhile, traffic coming towards Appa Balwant Chowk and Budhwar Chowk on Kelkar Road will be diverted as per the requirement.

After the procession on Laxmi Road passes through Sonya Maruti Chowk, traffic will be diverted to Sant Kabir Chowk. Motorists going towards Shivajinagar from Pooram Chowk via Bajirao Road should proceed via Tilak Road and Alka Talkies Chowk to reach their destination.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Vijay Kumar Magar advised motorists to take Maharshi Vitthal Ramji Shinde Bridge in Shaniwar Peth towards Balargdharva Chowk to avoid congestion. The authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and adhere to the traffic diversions for a smooth and peaceful procession.
