Bibvewadi, 13th October 2021: The sleuths from the Pune city police have arrested three accused who had escaped after killing a 14-year-old girl in Bibvewadi on Tuesday evening. The main accused is a relative of the girl and had tried to behead her as she had spurned his advances.

The deceased Kshitija Anant Vyawhare, a class 8th student and kabaddi player, was hacked to death outside Yash Lawns around 5.30 pm on Tuesday. She had gone for practice on the ground there when the accused Rishikesh alias Shubham Bajirao Bhagwat (21) reached there with his two friends.

According to police, Bhagwat called her aside. When she asked him why he had come there, the accused got enraged. One of his friends attacked her on the leg, while Rishikesh assaulted her on the neck with a sharp weapon, almost severing her head. When her friends tried to intervene, the accused threatened them with a toy pistol. As they raised an alarm, the accused abandoned the weapons and fled from there.

After getting information, senior police officials reached the spot and began the investigation. The officials from Bibvewadi police station nabbed the three accused from bushes nearby in the wee hours of Wednesday. They had been hiding there after the murder.

Police said that Bhagwat stayed with her aunt (mother’s sister) in Sukhsagar Nagar. He had been harassing Kshitija out of one-sided love for the last one and half years. When her parents learnt about it they had asked Bhagwat to mend his ways but he did not give up.
