Pune Police Arrest 3 Smugglers With Red Sandalwood Worth Rs 27 Lakh

Pune, 9th June 2021: The officials from the anti-extortion cell (2) of the Pune City Police Crime Branch have arrested three persons for allegedly smuggling red sandalwood (Raktchandan) in a tempo. Police have seized 270 kg of sandalwood worth Rs 27 lakh from their possession.

 

The arrested persons have been identified as Vicky Sanjay Sable (19) of Manjari, Hadapsar), Rohit Ravi Rudrap (20, resident of Shivnerinagar, Kondhwa) and Alan Kanhaiya Waghmare (25, resident of Kondhwa).

 

Acting on a tip-off received by policemen Bhushan Shelar and Amol Pilane, a team led by Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare laid a trap on the Pune-Solapur highway at Loni Kalbhor toll naka and nabbed the smugglers. The team arrested driver Sable and accomplice Rudrap with the sandalwood. During the interrogation, they named Waghmare as the supplier who was also arrested.

 

The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shrinivas Ghadge and ACP Laxman Borate.

 

The team included Police Sub-Inspector Vijay Zanjad, Shrikant Chavan and police personnel Sampat Avchare, Pradip Shitole, Vinod Salunke, Vijay Gurav, Rahul Uttarkar, Shailesh Surve, Surendra Jagdale, Sachin Ahiwale, Amol Pilane, Sangram Shingare, Chetan Shirolkar, Pradip Gade, Mohan Yelpalle, Rupali Karnawar and Asha Kolekar.
