Pune Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Raping and Blackmailing Woman with Pornographic Video Threats
Shivajinagar, 1st March 2023: A 27-year-old woman was raped by a man she met during a bus journey after he gave her a spiked drink in Pune. The accused, Faheem Naeem Syed, threatened to make pornographic videos of the victim go viral if she did not give him money. The woman, who had taken a loan of Rs 16,86,000 to pay Syed, lodged a complaint with the Shivajinagar police, following which Syed was arrested.
According to the victim’s complaint, she met Syed on a bus and exchanged phone numbers. He identified himself as a travel agent and took her to a hotel for dinner before raping her at a nearby lodge. Syed gave her a soft drink laced with sedatives, making her unconscious before committing the crime. He demanded money from her, threatening to make pornographic videos go viral if she refused. The woman paid him Rs 16,86,000, but Syed continued to ask for more money, leading her to file a complaint with the police.
The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns over women’s safety in public places. The police have arrested Syed and are conducting further investigations into the matter.
