Pune Police Arrest Two Brothers for Drug Trafficking; Cannabis Hidden in Turmeric Packets
Baner, 19th March 2026: In a late-night crackdown, Baner police uncovered an unusual drug trafficking operation, arresting two brothers who allegedly used turmeric packets to conceal cannabis and avoid detection.
The action was initiated following a tip-off that narcotics were being disguised and distributed in the Baner area. Acting on the information, police set up a trap around 2 am and detained two suspects who were waiting on a motorcycle, reportedly to deliver the drugs.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of approximately 3 kilograms of cannabis. Further investigation and a raid at their residence resulted in the seizure of an additional 13 kilograms of narcotics, along with foreign currency.
The accused have been identified as Abhishek Borse (24) and his brother Akshay Borse, residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Police said the duo used a motorcycle to transport and supply the contraband to different parts of the city.
Officials revealed that the brothers had been using this method for several days, hiding cannabis inside turmeric packets to evade suspicion from both authorities and the public. Both individuals are reportedly employed with a private company.
Police are continuing their investigation to trace the source of the narcotics and to determine whether a larger network is involved in the operation.
