Pune, 10th June 2023: In an effort to maintain safety and preserve the sanctity of the Palkhi ceremony, the Pune City Police has issued a stern warning against the use of drone cameras for photography. Devotees and spectators are advised to refrain from capturing aerial shots of the procession without proper permission, as it is strictly prohibited within the Pune city area.

The order, issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, will be enforced from June 12 to June 15, coinciding with the arrival of Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palanquin from Dehu and Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palanquin from Alandi. The Palkhi festival draws a significant number of people from across the Maharashtra state and outside, all seeking to witness this unique and spiritual gathering of devotees.

While many are eager to capture the essence of the ceremony through photography, the use of drone cameras poses potential risks and threats to public safety. The Pune Police emphasize the importance of obtaining prior permission from the authorities before operating drones during the Palkhi ceremony. Any unauthorized drone photography will be met with strict action, ensuring compliance with the regulations.
