Pune Police Book Man for Cruelty and Sexual Assault on Dog in Model Colony, No Arrest Yet

Shivajinagar, 17th October 2025: Chaturshingi Police have registered an FIR against a man for allegedly committing an unnatural sexual act and cruelty toward a stray dog near Mahadev Mandir, Mahale Market, Model Colony.

According to the FIR No. 0413, filed on October 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM, the incident reportedly occurred between 10:30 PM on September 22 and 4:00 AM on September 23, 2025. The offence has been registered against Shyamrao Dhotre, a resident of Vadarwadi, under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

The complainant, Sanjay Ramchandra Shinde (59), a resident of Suyog Co-operative Society, Model Colony, and an active animal welfare volunteer, stated that he and his colleagues — Bhagyendra Chudasma, Sahil Karande, and Roger Joseph — were informed by locals about the incident. They later received a video clip allegedly showing the accused committing the act, which prompted them to approach the police.

Following the complaint, Senior PI Uttam Bhajanawale and API Aniket Pote promptly initiated action, and API Dada Kacharu Pawar was appointed as the Investigating Officer.

API Pawar told Punekar News, “We have issued a notice to the accused under section of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the accused will be directly presented before the court.”
