Pune Police Bust Inter-State Burglary Gang, Stolen Valuables Worth Rs 10 Lakhs Recovered

Pune, 2nd September 2021: The officials from Crime Branch Unit 4 of Pune City police have arrested a gang of burglars who have committed thefts in various cities across the state. Gold and silver jewellery, nine mobile phones, worth Rs 10 lakh have been seized from them.

The arrested persons have been identified as Shakib Shaukat Ali Ansari (23), Danish Waris Sheikh (22), Salman Ehsaan Alvi (26), Wasim Shaukat Ali Ansari (24), all residents of Uttar Pradesh. They lived in Nagpur Chawl in Yerwada.

Acting on a tip-off, they were caught on Senapati Bapat Road on August 24 while moving around suspiciously with sharp weapons in an autorickshaw. Police had recovered many instruments used during a house break-in by criminals.

During the investigation, it was found that they had stolen ornaments from Pashan and Baner. Police have recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 9.08 lakh. They have also committed burglaries in Pimpri Chinchwad, Mumbai and Gujarat.

The action was taken under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shrinivas Ghadge, ACP Laxman Borate and Police Inspector Jayant Rajurkar.

The investigation team included API Shobha Kshirsagar, PSI Jaydeep Patil and police personnel Mahendra Pawar, Rajas Sheikh, Datta Fulsunder, Pravin Bhalchim, Rakesh Khunve, Ashok Shelar, Sagar Waghmare and Shital Shinde.
