Pune: Police Commissioner Decides To Increase Police Patrolling

Pune, September 23, 2020: The newly appointed Commissioner of Pune Police Amitabh Gupta has taken charge amid the rising number of burglary, vandalism, robbery cases during the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The city top cop visited various police stations in the city as well as the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday to obtain information about the ongoing crimes in the city. Police Commissioner has decided to increase police patrols in the city. “Priority would be given to resolving common grievances and preventing serious crimes”, he informed.

During the lockdown period, crimes were reduced in the city. However, serious crimes have spiked up since the unlocking phase. After the restrictions were relaxed, burglary cases have also increased in the housing societies.

Cases such as vandalism of vehicles because of disputes between minors have surged as well. Minor disputes, animosities lead to murders. “While working as the Commissioner of Police, efforts will be made to curb serious crimes and technology will be used to do that. Priority will be given to maintaining law and order in the city. Moreover, importance will also be given to the Police Welfare Scheme”, said Gupta.
