Pune police commissioner Rashmi Shukla visits Kopardi for minor girl’s gangrape investigation
Ahmednagar: On the directions of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Pune police commissioner Rashmi Shukla is visiting Kopardi village in Ahmednagar district on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Fadnavis had appointed Shukla as special woman officer to conduct the enquiry.
Fadnavis government is facing a fierce attack over the brutal gangrape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Ahmednagar.
On Tuesday the CM tweeted, “I am personally monitoring the situation continuously, since day 1. We also explored the option if we can direct the fast track courts to finish the trials within a specific duration. But we are adding a clause of asking the fast track court to carry out the trial on day to day basis without adjournment. Kopardi case will be tried in a fast track court and we will do our best to give worst punishment for such heinous crime”.
Fadnavis further tweeted that the “Kopardi incident is extremely painful, unfortunate and a blot on humanity and highly condemnable”.
On July 13 in Kopardi, the family of the class 9th schoolgirl found her badly mutilated, blood-splattered body under a tree in a field sending shockwaves across the state. Investigations revealed she was tortutred and her both shoulders were found dislocated.
Till now three persons have been arrested in the case. The accused are from same village.
