Pune Police Conduct Sudden Nakabandi, Penalize 514 Violators, Seize 72 Vehicles

Pune, 2nd April 2025: In a bid to curb criminal activities and enforce traffic discipline, Pune Police conducted a sudden nakabandi (blockade) across various parts of the city on Saturday night. During the operation, 2,853 drivers were checked, leading to action against 514 violators. The police collected fines amounting to ₹7.46 lakh and seized 72 vehicles.
The operation was carried out on major roads and intersections between 10 PM and midnight. Traffic rule violators, including two-wheeler riders traveling in the wrong direction, triple-seat riders, and those not wearing seat belts, faced strict action.
The nakabandi was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, with Joint Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, senior officers, and 1,872 police personnel from 39 police stations, Crime Branch and Traffic Branch actively participating in the drive. Officials have stated that similar surprise blockades will continue in the coming days and have urged citizens to adhere to traffic regulations.
