Mumbai, 2nd March 2025: The Maharashtra government is set to make 45 transport-related services available on WhatsApp as part of its digital governance initiative. Minister of State for Transport Madhuri Misal announced the move, stating that efforts are underway to integrate these services following the state’s recent agreement with Meta for WhatsApp governance.

“In the last two years, 45 faceless services of the Transport Department have been launched. Now, with the WhatsApp initiative covering 500 notified services across various departments, we will work towards including transport-related services as well,” Misal said.

The announcement was made at a significant event in Mumbai, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis laid the foundation stone for the Transport Commissioner’s Office, ‘Parivahan Bhavan,’ in Worli. He also distributed honorarium funds under the Dharmaveer Anand Dighe Saheb Auto Rickshaw and Meter Taxi Driver Welfare Board and inaugurated faceless services aimed at enhancing public convenience.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, MLA Manisha Kayande, and senior officials from the Transport Department, including Sanjay Sethi and Vivek Bhimanwar.

Highlighting the Transport Department’s contributions, Misal emphasized that it ranks third in revenue generation for the state. She acknowledged the department’s critical role in coordinating with both citizens and other government agencies and commended its ongoing digital transformation. Additionally, she assured that steps will be taken in collaboration with private vehicle drivers and organizations to reduce road accidents.
