Pune Police Crack Down On Holi Hooliganism: Minors Booked For Water Balloon Attacks On Women Pedestrians On FC Road, Guardians Also Charged

Shivajinagar, 29th March 2024: Pune witnessed an unfortunate incident on the day of Holi as a video circulated on social media depicting youths recklessly throwing water balloons at pedestrians and young women along FC Road. Responding swiftly to the footage, a dedicated team from the Crime Branch Unit One of Pune City Police sprang into action, apprehending the perpetrators responsible for the chaos.

The culprits, who were identified as minors, had been riding bikes while hurling balloons at unsuspecting pedestrians on FC Road. Utilizing CCTV footage from various points within the Shivajinagar and Deccan police station limits, Police Constables Datta Sonwane and Shashikant Darekar from the Crime Branch Unit One meticulously tracked down the offenders in the Kasba Peth area.

Subsequently, a case has been registered against the minors under the Motor Vehicle Act for their reckless actions. Additionally, legal action has been initiated against the parents of the juvenile offenders, identified as Rangaswamy Maganna Gowda (55 years old, resident of Hadapsar) and Dhondiram Machhindra Akhade (45 years old, resident of Kagdi Pura Kasba Peth). The matter has been forwarded to the Deccan Police for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, DCP (Crime) Amol Zende and ACP Sunil Tambe. The team included Senior Police Inspector Shabbir Syed, Assistant Police Inspector Ashish Kawthekar, and their team members.
