Pune Police Crack Down on Noisy Silencers, Tinted Glass, and Fancy Number Plates; Collects ₹1.5 Crore in Fines, Suspends Licences

In a bid to tackle the growing menace of noise pollution caused by modified bullet motorcycles, as well as violations related to tinted glass and fancy number plates on vehicles, the Pune Police have taken decisive action. Numerous complaints from residents along Porwal Road and various other locations in the city prompted the police to initiate strict measures.

Pune authorities have already addressed 3,736 cases of modified silencers on motorcycles, imposing fines amounting to approximately ₹30 lakh. Moreover, the City Traffic Police have cracked down on 4,583 vehicles with tinted glass violations, resulting in fines totaling around ₹47 lakh over the past six months. Another 7,938 instances of fancy number plate violations were dealt with, resulting in fines of approximately ₹60 lakh during the same period.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Vijay Magar, informed punekarnews.in that the department had received numerous complaints regarding the disruptive noise caused by bullet silencers, particularly along Porwal Road, both during the day and night. Magar emphasized that the police have already taken necessary actions against the violators and will continue to do so in the future. In addition, licences of repeat offenders will be suspended as a deterrent against persistent violations.
