Pune Police Crack Down on Notorious Thief: Jaydya Gaikwad Apprehended After 150 Burglaries

Pune, 25th April 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Vishrambaug Wada police have apprehended a notorious thief, Jaywant alias Jaydya Govardhan Gaikwad, aged 38 and residing in Aundh, who has been involved in more than 150 cases of burglary. The arrest follows the discovery of two burglary cases attributed to Gaikwad, with seized valuables amounting to 4 lakh rupees.

The investigation into a house burglary in the central part of the city led the Vishram Bagh police to scrutinize CCTV footage, revealing Gaikwad’s involvement. A trap was set, resulting in his detention. Further investigation confirmed his participation in 2 burglaries, leading to the recovery of stolen goods worth 4 lakh rupees.

Gaikwad’s criminal record spans multiple police stations, with the specific crime for which he was apprehended registered at the Vishrambaug Wada Police Station under IPC Sections 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night after preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), and 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc.). His capture followed an intensive four-day search by the DB team of the Vishrambaug Wada Police.

This achievement was made possible under the guidance of Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sainath Thombare, alongside the diligent efforts of Senior Police Inspector Deepali Bhujbal, Police Inspector (Crime) Arun Ghodke, Police Sub Inspector Manoj Barure, Assistant Police Sub Inspector Rakesh Gujar, and the dedicated team of police constables including Revan Kanche, Ashok Mane, Mayur Bhosale, Ganesh Kathe, Mahavir Valte, Ashish Kharat, and others.
