Pune Police Enforces 48-Hour Campaign Ban Before Assembly Elections On 20th November

Pune, 16th November 2024: The Pune City Police Commissionerate has announced that all forms of campaigning must cease 48 hours before the polling for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, by the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for the 72 hours preceding the elections. This directive, issued by Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, is aimed at ensuring peace and order during the electoral process.

The constituencies under the Pune City Police Commissionerate’s jurisdiction include Shirur, Purandar, Bhor, Vadgaonsheri, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Hadapsar, Pune Cantonment, and Kasba Peth. The order strictly prohibits activities such as unlawful gatherings, public meetings, assemblies of more than five people, or any form of rallies by candidates within these constituencies. This restriction will commence at 6 PM on 18th November and remain in effect until the end of 20th November, the polling day.
